One of the BIGGEST issues I have with my skin is it's ability to go dead so quick! I don't wear make up more than twice a week so bright skin is KEY for me! I spent many days looking dead and dejected (cries in no edo powers) and having people ask me if I've slept lately (I don't sleep much) but this year, I decided enough was enough.
I've boiled the causes down to the major ones I could find and I have to say, I'm guilty of quite a few, I must say:
1. You're dehydrated! No, this doesn't mean that you're thirsty, lol. It means that instead of drinking a lot of water, you're drinking a lot of ...well, not water lol. The sugar and caffeine in all those other drinks tends to dry out your skin and stress out your system more that you and I know.
2. Terrible sleeping pattern! If you're like me staying up late and waking up extra early, GUILTY! Take you away! I mean, one late night is okay but when it becomes a routine, your body can't cope. Never underestimate the value of a good night's rest!
3. You're using make up wipes but not washing your face! Once again, guilty due to laziness.The alcohol that’s typically in the wipes to help break down makeup can dry out your skin and a recent study found that while they can take makeup off, they can also spread it around to the rest of your face. Ew.
4. You're not eating your veggies! Sound childish but it's true! When your diet is high in carbs and low on greens, the sugars our body processes in carbs goes directly to our skin, making tone uneven and giving it an overall dull appearance.
Now that we've all felt terrible enough, I want share how I'm fixing it!
I've seen way too many people rave about the special powers possessed by turmeric so I decided to try it out. Turmeric is an orange spice used in alot of pan asian dishes.Turmeric has long been used as a powerful anti-inflammatory in both the Chinese and Indian systems of medicine. It also helps fight cancer! Fun, huh?
Now for the skin, it not only helps to clear acne scars and inflammation but also reduces oil secretion by sebaceous glands. It helps with wrinkles,strych marks and of course, dull skin! The best part is that you can have so many different types of tumeric masks!
Today though, I'm going to share the simplest variation of my tumeric mask.I'm sure you've all been noticing the changes in my skin lately! I've realised that pampering myself actually makes my skin look so much better! The level of pollution in the world can't hold us back!
I have the answer!
It requires only 3 ingredients, a bowl and a plastic spoon!
** Disclaimer** Turmeric is like palm oil. It stains PRETTY bad so maybe wear some gloves and no clothes you like?
1/4 cup of turmeric
1/8 cup or 2 tablespoons of corn flour (this just thickens it up a little)
1/4 cup of milk ( or more depending on what consistency you want)
That's it! Mix it all together, slather it on your face (excluding your eyes of course) and leave it on to dry. When it's completely dry, rinse it off with warm water. Sometimes when I make too much, I use it as a scrub for the rest of my body and rinse it off in the shower (cheeky laugh because I always double the recipe)
Do this once a week for a month and let me know how it goes!
